Now more than ever, students need educators who are competent and compassionate and who recognize the complexity of student identities, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. In our current educational and political climate, educational access and equity must move from a divisive debate to a uniting movement. In other words, as Robert Putnam proclaims, “All kids are our kids.”
